we were the reason.
2008 most unique/creative gift showed up on our doorstep this morning with a doorbell ring: a huge cardboard box, scantily and badly wrapped with a bow on top. we hesitated in opening it, though yuee was convinced it was the kao boys he spotted a few houses down. :P contents were 7 boxes of kashi cereal, a pineapple, a papaya, a yellow post-it note with "where do you find a frickin' durian?" scribbled, a wedding card designed by grace but personalized by the card-givers with our names, 2 java g.c.'s, 2 yogurtland g.c.'s, 2 chick-fil-meal cards, and an old photo of g's youth group in a heart-shaped diecut, framed around a guy she once found really annoying. thanks, jong & daneow. :) epic win.
we ended the eve with a short hop to ihop.
e-i, AIYA, oh.
it's been get-togethers galore, sardined, stacked, sandwiched. good times, yes, but not all the time.
perhaps the most memorable this year was the "special friends" dinner at pbc. gloria was a guest of honour, along with an atrium full of "special" kids and adults (w/ their families) - those society deems as disabled, lesser, incapable, nuisances. but that night, they feasted like royalty and were affirmed of God's great love for each of them. we were humbled, seeing the faces of innocence and utter contentedness... and deeply reminded of the spirit of Christmas -- of His love for each of US. that, in all our depravity and humanity, He would be willing to come. for us.
recent site: operation once in a lifetime re-design. it's been mentioned around the web, with the most surprising on a hollywood celebrity gossip column. it is still a cause ever so dear to us and we do continue to salute our service men and women. we truly believe in this organization that readily responds to the needs of our military families.
our dptree has also been pretty busy with other odds and ends: consulting, designing, marketing, coding. fruity goodness.
welcome back, weng sibs james & joann. you are loved. :)
so allen ranked #20 in money magazine's 2008 best places to live along with mckinney, carrollton, and richardson. we'd LOVE it if there were mountains. :D but, for the now, we are content here, we are.
speaking of which, the vancouver trip was high on eating (discovery of this amazing taiwanese ice dessert called "snow flower"!), family time, sights but low on snow. we still got to board, though, so we'll call it our warm-up trip. :)
we came back to ... december -- carols on the radio, twinkle lights, evergreen trees, EOY deadlines, party invites. but what is this month, really?
... celebrating the Life that came that we might live ...
