both of our company holiday parties happened in january this year... it was interesting comparing the divergent two.
y's was @ his ceo's home/mansion w/ lotsa techie talk amongst telecom geeks, catered on-the-border and potluck appetizers/desserts, bulk-bought drinks, and self-discovered entertainment that consisted mostly of mingling, house-touring, and tv. was unpretentious with a nice family, close-knit feel.
g's happened @ the house of blues in downtown, an all-out hoopla of gourmet eats, shiny lights, karaoke corner, rocking band, dance stage, and an open bar befitting libacious advertising, business, marketing and creative folk. the things were wowing but having to don a "guise" and endless, mere small talk not so much so.
such are the disparate domains we embrace 40+(++?) hours a week. not entirely characteristic of who we are, of course. but we marvel that we can come together and live harmoniously. God is, indeed, a quirky but sovereign and extraordinary matchmaker. :)
last weekend, elaine&ivy treated us w/ pastors teng&teng to a popiah party (think: a s.e. asian chipotle? :P). we hand-wrapped our own and ate one after another after another after another. isaac won w/ 7 double-skinned filled-to-the-max rolls with yuee coming in @ a close second with 6. very outnumbered g withstood the zany savorings, ramblings and endless lah's of 5 singaporeans. :D
happy chinese lunar year of the rat! we celebrated simply last night w/ the kao rat-girl gloria & fam, breaking in their new korean hot pot and chatting up a new year's storm.
he leaves for barcelona manana. she arrives v-day for an extended vacation-date. :D
we are exitado for the exit from here, for just awhile at least.
