fast&furious on the autobahn...
now en route to austria - innsbruck & zell am see.
it was a multi-celebratory weekend. yuee's treinta y cinco began with a pre-bday star trek cake delivery to the trekkie geek's office on friday, ultimate frisbee in the evening with ji's utd folks, a midnight showing of star trek at IMAX, and a late nite/early morn dinner/breakfast at cafe brazil. the last time we were there was with other counselors after youth group on a friday night when we were still dating...
day-of bday saturday was sleeping in (albeit to an earlier-than-usual 1pm for him), a surprise (and rather large and a dumbfounded what-to-do-with-this-from-a-guy) flower arrangement from mama kao, the unveiling of the requested (and suspected) ARB locker & compressor to outfit the off-roading vehicle, listening to max bassin' it @ a jazz concert, gratis berryberry yogurt and a leisurely evening at soho. the restaurant recommender
sunday, we worshipped to a different beat with a reconnected couple, dim-summed for mother's day w/ g's fam, napped, and headed to the final surprise -- yet more ultimate -- w/ n00bie oikies from dcfc and some way old dcfc old-timers... durian and green tea cupcakes for all. well, durian consumed by a select brave few. :P
both mothers will be drinking it up this year w/ red wine ... the son is now a semi-connoisseur or at the very least, advocate for spirited health -- to "live long and prosper." we bless and love you, mommies!
so the showers still showered... we biked through a crazy afternoon torrential downpour last saturday. visibility was nil and the fear of vehicles overrunning into us on the slippery roads gripped us for a few hours. but who are we to contest the floodgates of heaven? the grueling ride was a tangible representation of the path He's taken us the past couple of months... one of refinement, of sanctification. yuee's gripped passage in the army: hebrews 12:10-11.
read further to v.12: "Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees." so through the pouring sheets, we kept riding and riding and riding ... 'til that savior underpass where the MS crew finally called it a day and shuttles rescued us to tx motor speedway. late sat. nite they called off day 2. we were even more disappointed when there wasn't a drop of rain on sunday! but then again... who are we to contest Open Skies?
we met with The Church at God of the City this past tuesday night... greater things are yet to come. Lord, let us be meager vessels, just vessels.
y's been a-strummin' phil wickham's (singalong cd downloadable on his site) "cannons" and we're digging it. so to deep arlington in his now ultrafast vishnu'd 1.35 we went last weekend for a wickham/charlie hall concert benefitting compassion int'l.
oh to be lost in song and praise and worship. the music of the universe plays.
we also "picked up" another kid. yahaira celestina zegarra puma from peru. she looks quite sassy from the pic.
rain, rain, delay several days... as we'll be biking 150 miles+ over 2 days from frisco to ft. worth with 4,000 other cyclists in the MS-150 to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis. it's hit closer to home now that we have a very young friend recently diagnosed with it. should be an amazing ride, if not for the weather. we were initially going to be camping @ texas motor speedway sat. evening and ending at sundance square sun. but the swine flu and impending t-storms has diverted accom to an elementary school in justin, tx before ending @ the speedway. we're a little disappointed about not getting to pitch a tent, though. anyway, we're still raising funds until june 1 so if you would like to donate, find yuee's makeshift shiitake mushrooms jar @ dcfc or give us a shout.
