day.1: arrive at sjc; first stop @ cliff's condo in santa clara; dim sum @ the popular koi palace w/ the mo's & friends; drive to sf (bonnie came; vincent went to hang w/ his geek peeps); the parking adventure; walk around town/light shopping (g gets excited @ seeing a westfield mall -- one of their clients w/o a presence in the south); union square meet-up w/ cliff and (finally!) his beloved anna; chinatown; evening on our own; dinner @ r&g lounge; spontaneous stay in the city @ holiday inn instead of w/ cliff
day.2: secure a parking spot early; walk through yerba buena park to sfmoma for art & the frieda kahlo exhibit; looong line for cable cars @ mkt & powell; ride up to lombard -- walk the wicked crooked street; quick browse through over-touristy fisherman's wharf; stroll pier 39 & see sea lions while snacking on calamari and crab cakes; rent bikes; ride to and through golden gate; witness a young lady beamer hit an old man prius on the bridge; bike back; another lengthy cable car wait; dinner w/ the mo's @ brother 1 restaurant (bro 2 & 3 are on the same street w/in yards of e/o!) for korean bbq; spontaneous stay w/ the mo's instead of w/ cliff :D
day.3: pit stop @ in&out to feed y's instatiable craving; head to monterrey; scenic walk to the aquarium; more sea lions; spend the day perusing underwater specimens; drive 1/17th of the magnificent 17-mile drive; dinner w/ cliff & anna in pleasanton @ a HUGE sweet tomatoes where we interrogate them to pieces (j/k); set out for the 3-hour journey to yosemite; wrong hotel sets us back 1.5 hours; finally slumber @ 3 a.m.
day.4: gourmet breakfast buffet -- fuel for the the day's strenuous hike; decide on the glacier point trek -- 3 hours up and 2 hours down; bask in the amazing views!, chinese buffet in a podunk cali town along the way; back to santa clara to FINALLY stay w/ cliff :)
day.5: invidia to drop off cliff's house keys, ranch 99 for a light chinky breakfast & to buy mooncakes back; apple campus tour w/ kevin -- shop in the company store; google tour w/ vincent complete w/ lunch and infinite freebies!; rush back to sjc; flight delay (what else is new?); HOME!
yea, home. every place we visit we wonder what it'd be like to live there. and is where we are where we'll be? but y's philosophy has become ours jointly: wherever you are, there you are. so here we are... for now, at least.
